uTorrent users

I download at a steady 1.1 mb/s. Is there a better setting to use to go faster? It seems to max out at the 1.1, I have never seen it go faster.

Also, more than ever I try to seed now that Im a member in a member only site that relies on seeders. But I seem to upload really really slow. I realize alot of that has to do with whos downloading from me and so on. But is there a better setting to use?

Jeff, who is your internet provider? 1.1MB/s is actually a steady rate of 8.8mbit/s.

That is pretty decent. Also I would advise against a lot of the guides that say to increase the amount of connections uTorrent can use. That would directly relate to how well your router can handle concurrent connections.

I have Embarq, or whoever just bought them out. I pay for the 10 meg package.
I figured that was pretty good, was mainly hoping to boost the upload speed to keep up with my ratio.

I have it set at 500 connections. Too much? Too little?

If you are trying to up your ratio, then just use Greedy Torrent ... but it can get you banned from some private sites.

500 is good. Do you have the proper ports forwarded for whatever you have chosen to use? Also enable DHT in the BitTorrent section of the options. This will help locate seeder and peers not found in the tracker file you downloaded.

I asked abhout forwarding ports here before without a response. The only thing I know about ports is sometimes I have a green check mark icon at the bottom of the utorrent and sometimes its yellow. On occasion its red but everything seems the same. As far as speed is concerned.

Whats your thoughts on peergaurdian2?

Peergaurdian is fine.

What model/type of router do you have? Then use http://www.portforward.com/

I use port 41328 for my uTorrent. Also, if you have a router, there is no need for keeping Windows firewall on, unless it's a laptop and you are traveling to public networks. Then just open that specific port in the Windows Firewall settings.

Start > Run > cmd > OK

In the window type "cd \" enter without quotes.

Then type "ipconfig /all > ip.txt" without quotes.

You can then close that window. Go to your C:\ drive, and find the IP.txt, open it, and paste it here.

Ok, http://192.168.2.1

That should take you to the login page for the router. The believe the default password is 1234. Then look for an advanced section, the NAT section. Once in there you should be able to add the port (TCP), and add forward to 192.168.2.2 which is that computers internal IP address. You can also probably go to the DHCP server settings, and reserve your computers IP address so it never changes.

If you need any help you can call/text 244-1320. If you want me to do it for you, go to http://www.crossloop.com/justinkorkiner and message me.
